BOARD POLICY


The North Sanpete School Board of Education is cognizant that developmental readiness is closely related to maturation In spite of individual variations, most children are ready for formal instruction at a similar enough time to permit teaching to be. directed to groups of children.


GUIDELINES


  1. Utah state law permits only those children who reach the age of 5 on or before September 1 to enter public school that year.
  2. Typically these children will be placed in Kindergarten.
  3. If there is a question of a student being placed in different grade, parents must request assessment of the child's ability and achievement levels, by contacting Student Services at the district office.
  4. Results of such an assessment will be discussed with parents, teacher, school psychologist and principal. At this meeting the appropriate grade placement will be determined.
