BOARD POLICY
As needed, part-time teachers may be employed to fill a specific need within the district.
GUIDELINES
- Part-time teachers shall be required to meet the same legal and professional standards as regular teachers.
- Part-time teachers shall be selected, screened, and employed on the same basis as a regular teacher except for the following provisions:
- The teacher shall be paid only for the time they teach or provide supervisory services. Part-time teachers will be paid full days and will work full days on all non-school contract days (beyond 180).
- Preparation time may be provided under special circumstances.
- The employee benefit provisions shall be provided by the school district the proportional amount of the teachers time that is contracted. The teacher must be contracted for at least 50% of the time to participate in the health, accident, and disability insurance program.
- In the event the employee elects to participate in the insurance program, the employee’s contribution to the premium will be deducted on a monthly basis.
- In the event the employee elects not to participate in this insurance program, the employee will not be paid the cost of the insurance premium.
- Part-time teachers are to conduct themselves in the same professional manner of full-time teachers. This includes attendance at all faculty and in-service meetings held at the school building and district building.
