BOARD POLICY

Professional educators may be requested to provide private tutoring in order to assist a student or adult to acquire a set of knowledge.

GUIDELINES

  1. When additional compensation is received by the professional educator, it is expected that the time allocated for the tutoring shall not conflict with the time allocated to their contractual responsibilities.

  2. Free public education is provided by the Utah State Constitution. Therefore, teachers should provide every opportunity to assist students under their direct responsibility. It would be far very unusual circumstances that a teacher would receive additional private compensation for tutoring a student who is already assigned to the teacher by the nature of the teacher's teaching responsibilities. Such compensations shall be approved by the Board of Education before arrangements are made for tutoring services.
