DUAL LANGUAGE IMMERSION APPLICATION PROCESS

2022-2023 Spanish Dual Language Immersion program applications are due by February 16, 2023.  If you have a current first grade student, it is not too late to take advantage of this program. January 15th of the second grade year is the latest non-Spanish speakers can enter dual immersion and expect success.

Current students in Moroni Elementary will be automatically enrolled, and need not apply. Additional openings may be available. This past year, students from Fairview, Fountain Green, Mt. Pleasant, and Spring City were assigned designated bus stops and rode in the front seat of the middle school bus to Moroni (under careful watch of the bus driver) for inclusion in the Dual Immersion experience. Transportation is planned for this coming year as well.

Parents will be notified of acceptance by March 31st. A district policy, in compliance with state law, will guide the application and selection process. Application for in-district students requires only a letter of request listing student name, grade, current school, and siblings currently enrolled in Moroni Elementary, if any. Out of district application requires the forms listed in the NSSD Open Enrollment Policy V-09.

Student selection will be according to the district policy.

  1. Moroni Elementary students will be enrolled.
  2. Siblings of students in the school will be enrolled.
  3. Remaining seats will be processed on a first come, first served basis as received at the North Sanpete School District Office.  Students living within North Sanpete School District will be given first priority.

You may still submit an application after the deadline, however, your child will be placed on a wait list according to the date of application. Please note that if you have a younger child with an older sibling already in the program, and you would like to enroll him/her in Dual Immersion, you must submit an application for that student by the deadline. Siblings have priority in the lottery process if the application is submitted on time. Keep in mind submitting an application does not guarantee placement.

Application questions will be directed to Amanda Morley at the district office, 435-462-4763. If you have questions regarding Dual Immersion or would like to visit a classroom, please contact Stacey Peterson, Moroni Elementary Principal, at 435-436-8291.
