North Sanpete School District Open Enrollment (School Choice) Program

North Sanpete School District supports and promotes student choice for a school or program when that choice does not negatively affect the resident school and/or the receiving school. Procedures and guidelines are established in compliance with the Enrollment Options Program outlined in Utah Code. Students and/or parents requesting attendance at a school other than their home school shall complete the district application form using the guidelines below. Tuition may be charged for out-of-state students. Policies/procedures that govern the School Choice process are governed by NSSD Board Policy E-09 Student Enrollment - School Choice and its attached procedure.  NSSD Board policies can be found here.

Timeline for Open Enrollment Applications:

November 15 - 3rd Friday in February - early enrollment applications accepted for the following school year.

Applications received after the 3rd Friday in February for the following school year are considered Late Enrollment applications

In the case of Early Enrollment applications, applicants will be notified by the end of March of the approval/rejection of their application for the following school year.

In the case of Late Enrollment applications for the following school year, applicants will be notified of the approval/rejection of their applications within two weeks or two weeks prior to the start of the new school year - whichever is later.

Requests for the current school year are considered Late Enrollment applications and parents/guardians will be notified within two weeks of the approval/rejection of the enrollment application.

In non-emergency situations, approved applications for the current school year will receive an anticipated Start Date of the nearest grading term (i.e., quarter or trimester) for the requested school.  It is expected that the student will remain in their current placement until that approved start date.

If students are applying to participate in North Sanpete’s Dual Immersion program, a parent meeting will be scheduled following the School Choice application process.  Additional information on the program can be found here.
