NORTH SANPETE SCHOOL DISTRICT
Creating Conditions for Learning So All Students Can Succeed
Angela Thompson • February 2, 2023
Dear Parents,
This winter weather makes it difficult for many of us to get outside. This situation can also provide opportunities for students to read and benefit from activities that do not require gloves, hats, and coats. Central Utah Education Services (CUES) supports the central Utah districts in many ways. I encourage you to take a minute to check out their resources and services. The most significant, that has a direct impact on students, is the SORA Digital Library. This is a digital library in which students can check out a book for a period of time using their iPad. This resource is available to all students in the North Sanpete District and has proven to be a valuable addition to print books in individual school libraries. As you click on the link for SORA, you will see that you must have a username and password. Students can enter their username of firstname.lastname and their district Google password in order to enter the library. Another great resource available from the CUES site is the Utah Online Library. If you or your student are looking for reliable research information, then this is an exceptional source. It is supported through the Utah Education Network and has been available to our students for many years. As I develop the new district website, you will see links to these resources along with other valuable library information. I will keep you posted.
The Sanpete Food Pantry continues to work tirelessly for the benefit of our community. Recently, I received a summary of their contributions to our local families and thought I would share. You can help at any time by contacting this agency or if you need assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact them. We are here to help each other, and I want to extend my thanks to those individuals at the pantry that continue to work to serve and their willingness to coordinate with our schools. Checkout the summary sheet from the pantry fundraising director and join us in celebrating this incredible service.
Once again, I am going to remind you of our SafeUT tipline. It is an app that is available to all students on their iPad or phone, and it is also a tool you can use as parents. Don’t hesitate to report anything suspicious or concerning. We rely on reporting to address concerns promptly and to provide safety for those students that are struggling. Reports can be made anonymously and there is a person that monitors every concern. All reports are sent to a school administrator so help can be provided. It makes a difference when we work together.
Snow, ice, and slick conditions are still with us. Please drive with care, watch for buses and students walking to school, and dress for the weather. Be safe!
Congratulations to O’Dee Hansen! North Sanpete School District is in good hands.
Take care and thank you for your support.
Nan
