DISTRICT POLICY


The school principal shall organize and hold on a regular basis drills which will prepare students to respond appropriately when emergencies arise.


GUIDELINES


  1. There shall be two types of emergency drills. The first shall prepare children for evacuating buildings. The second shall be designed to help students understand proper behavior when they must remain in the school building during an emergency.
  2. The school principal shall plan appropriate drills and thoroughly orient students, teachers, and other employees relative to expected behavior and responsibilities when drills are held.
  3. During the year, drills shall be held often enough to assure that children are able to perform properly and to comply with the Utah code.
  4. A copy of the emergency drill plans shall be filed with the Superintendent and after each drill the Superintendent shall be informed in writing concerning the nature and success of the drill.
