BOARD POLICY
The Board recognizes that there may be an occasional need for North Sanpete District employees to transport students in private vehicles and therefore delegates to the Administration responsibility for developing appropriate policy guidelines.
ADMINISTRATIVE POLICY
The Administration authorizes the following policy guidelines:
GUIDELINES
Transportation may be provided for a student under the following guidelines:
1. The owner of the vehicle used to transport the student must sign a waiver of liability and disclaimer.
2. The student passenger must sign a waiver of liability and disclaimer stating the he/she will in no way hold North Sanpete School District or its employee responsible for any harm or injury resulting from travel to or from the activity.
3. The vehicle is which the student is traveling must be insured and that policy be the prime carrier.
4. The driver may not have had a conviction in the past year for any alcohol/drug related driving violation.
5. The principal must provide written permission for the employee to transport a student to any approved school activity which is outside the school area either during or outside regular school hours.
6. It is outside an employee's scope of employment to transport students to activities which are not official school functions.
7. Students are not to be transported to the employee's home during or after school hours. Any private services provided to students by school district employees is outside the scope of their employment with North Sanpete School district.
