BOARD POLICY


North Sanpete School District (NSSD) supports employees who also serve as members of the Armed Forces and recognize the essential role they play in maintaining the freedoms we enjoy. NSSD will adhere to applicable state and federal laws regarding treatment of these employees.



GUIDELINES


  1. Employees taking military leave must notify their supervisor in advance. When possible, prior notification should not be less than 30 days prior to the leave.
  2. Employees must return to work within the time frame outlined in the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act.
  3. Upon returning from a prolonged leave, employees will be placed in a position similar to their position when leaving.
  4. Employees deployed longer than 30 days will be given the option to continue their current health insurance and pay the current contracted cost of coverage.
  5. Employees must submit the Military Leave Request form to the Business Administrator’s Office for any leave taken. All military leave will be leave without pay.
  6. Employees may submit documentation showing total military pay received, excluding per diem and travel. If the total military pay received is less than the employees regular pay, the District will pay the employee the difference.
