Subject:  Determination of Budget Priorities

BOARD POLICY

The Board of Education of North Sanpete School District realizes it is impossible to meet an infinite array of educational needs and desires with finite resources. The Board of Education believes it has a primary responsibility to its taxpayers to operate the school system so that expenditures do not exceed revenues.

Therefore, the superintendent of schools is hereby directed to formulate the annual budget within those parameters. The following criteria must be taken into consideration:

GUIDELINES

1. At all times all resources must be utilized to produce the most positive effect on the student's opportunity to gain a basic/general education in this school district.
2. The budget must be in accord with statutory and regulatory mandates as promulgated by the Utah State Laws, the Office of Education, and/or the Federal Government when applicable.
3. The budget must be in harmony with the Board of Education's contracts with its employee groups.
4. At all times the development and promulgation of the budget must take into consideration the Board of Education's responsibility for employee welfare.
