Dear Parents,

It is always helpful to share new and existing resources that are available to students and parents. I hope you will take a few minutes to look through the couple of options I have included and keep them bookmarked for future reference. Technology makes access to valuable resources so easy, and our options just continue to improve.

Central Utah Education Service (CUES) is pleased to offer our digital library of ebooks, audiobooks, narrated books, and magazines to teachers to students in the CUES region.  Our Sora library is an extension of your school's physical libraries, only you have 24/7 access to thousands of additional titles via the app or online.  Titles are geared for students of all ages, elementary, middle, and high school.  Our library also contains special collections you can search through. You can log in from multiple devices as they will sync with each other so you can resume your reading from device to device.  And no more worrying about late fees or misplacing your book as the digital titles automatically return at the end of the lending period.

Utah's Online School Library is a virtual library designed for Utah K-12 students and teachers. This public service resource is available at no charge to our users. It's one component of the statewide Utah's Online Library project. Access to resources vary by library and include Utah's Online Public Library serving patrons of public libraries, Utah's Academic Online Library, designed to meet the needs of university and college students, Utah's Online School Library, designed for primary and secondary school students and teachers and Preschool Path, for early learners and their caregivers.  You will need an ID and Password to access the school library at home. The ID is: online and the password is: research

Have you ever used a Hub? A Hub is a custom resource center on emedia where groups can create and share collections associated with a project or organization. Projects, institutions, states and initiatives make use of Hubs to bring groups of educators together to create, organize, and share collections that meet their common goals. This is a great resource for parents, as it provides a one stop shopping link to multiple resources.

Considering a savings plan for your student’s college experience? Then you might consider a My529 account to get started. I have attached a letter from the Utah State Board of Education Superintendent, Syd Dickson, explaining why we are sending this information to parents of our district.  Our elementary principals will be sending out more information as we move through the next few months.

Come and join us!  The Hall of Fame dinner will be held Saturday, September 10th at 6 p.m.  This year’s inductees include Dr. Roy Ellefsen, Governor Spencer Cox, and George Lee. The cost is $25.00 per plate. The event will support programs of the district and the continued funding of scholarships for NSHS graduates. Please Venmo @NSSDFoundation or  Thank you for your support!

If you didn’t get a chance to hear Dr. Carrington, you can view the parent night, for the next few weeks at this link Dr. Jody Carrington Presentation ( She’ll put a smile on your face.  Remember…. connection matters!
