V-24: Class Standing
North Sanpete School District
Board Policy with Guidelines
|Policy Number: V-24
Effective Date: 10/26/1993
Subject: Class Standing
Class standing or designation of student status will be determined by the number of high school credits earned, not by total school years or by seat time.
|9th Grade - Freshman:||0-5 Credits|
|10th Grade - Sophomore:||6-11 Credits|
|11th Grade - Junior:||12-17 Credits|
|12th Grade - Senior:||18-24 Credits|
Honors and privileges designated by grade will be determined by class standing, that is by credits earned. Examples: To represent a class as an officer, royalty, or in an official capacity a student would be required to have earned the appropriate number of credits. To participate in the Junior Prom a student would be required to be enrolled in school and have earned 12+ credits.
The above guidelines would apply to students entering the high school as 9th graders in the 1993-94 school year and those entering in succeeding years.
Students other than 9th grade will be granted class standing this year only (1993-94) based on the following guidelines:
- Junior 1993-94 students will be required to meet the above standard or earn not less than (2) credits in the first semester.
- Sophomore 1993-94 (Junior 1994-95) students will be required to meet the above standard or earn eight (8) additional credits before second semester next year (1994-95).
